Molineaux and Webb, Manchester

Molineaux, Webb and Co. were based in Manchester and started to register their items in 1864 when they changed their spelling of their name (from Molineux to Molineaux). Between 1864 to 1883 they registered nearly 60 designs. One of the first designs, registered on 22 December 1864, was for their famous Greek Key pattern, with the pioneering acid etched frosting.  This suite consisted of large dishes, tazzas of all sizes, plates, and celery vases.

Another suite that is not often talked about in the books is a design that is comprised of a clear and acid etched striped pattern, registered on 20 August 1868.  This suite consisted of tazzas and a beautiful square covered butter dish.

One prized item for any collector is a matt glass (wingless) sphinx, registered 26th July 1875 that looks exactly like Wedgwood's Basalt pottery which was very popular throughout this time.

The company produced other high quality items, such as cut and engraved glass and in 1881 dioptic barrels for lamps and ships' lights as well as the railway carriage roof lamps.
